Tis the Season

Well now that Thanksgiving is done, it is time to start the Christmas spirit a rolling. It will again be a hard time for all of my family but it is also a very special time to be together. I have spent a lot of time lately reflecting on the amazing gift that Christ gave to everyone of us and coming to truly understand the pure love of Christ has helped to make sense of my life. I am pledging to spend this next month trying to focus on living a Christlike life, and finding ways to give of myself in service to others. I hope that the rest of my family will find it in their hearts to try to do the same. I really love this time of year. It is truly 'Tis the Season' to spread kindness and joy.

Blast from the past

I have been recently discovering the wonders of technology and really enjoying it. I was pretty disappointed when I was not able to attend any of my highschool reunions due to having babies and life just not co-operating with time schedules. But in the past couple of months I have been able to re-connect with many old friends and it has been so much fun to talk to them and see what is going on in their life and families. This is such an amazing tool to use for good that I think it is horrible that there are some people that use it as a tool for doing things that are not good. I wish that there were only good things in this world! It makes you wonder about what life will be like when the time comes that satan will be stopped from unleashing his evil on those who are here on the earth. I for one look forward to that day with great anticipation.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is a joyous day, or is it? It is wonderful to be a mother, the love and devotion of the children you bear is a treasure and sometimes more than anything else than you could ever want to have. But sometimes it is a heartbreaking day when you aren't even thought about by your offspring. As women get older and are living alone or maybe even just feeling lonely, the love of their children is all they think about, especially on Mother's Day. After all, is it too much to ask for just one day a year to show love to your mother? I am blessed to have some children who are always there for me, no matter what. But there are those who are not as blessed as I am.
Most mothers are devoted to nurturing, protecting and caring for their children all of their lives and I am sure this has been the case since the begining of time. So I wonder why there isn't more emphasis in honoring mother's. M. Russell Ballard says, "There is nothing in this world as personal, as nurturing, or as life changing as the influence of a righteous woman." Another great thought came from Spencer W. Kimball, "Someday, when the whole story of this and previous dispensations is told, it will be filled with courageous stories of our women, of their wisdom and their devotion, their courage."
I know that I wish my mother was still living here on earth, most of the time, but especially on Mother's Day. I feel sad that I wasn't able to really show her how much she meant to me in the short time I was priviledged to have her to care for me and to teach me the things of the Lord. So I hope that those of you who do still have the priviledge of having your mothers with you, don't ever let a Mother's Day go by without showing and telling her how much she means to you.

A fresh perspective

I have a new and fresh perspective on life lately. I have now made my blog private and only those who I know are being invited to view what I may have to say about life. I have been afraid to post much because of circumstances of my life in the past year. I love to read about those that I care about on their blogs and I think it is a wonderful tool to keep up with their lives. Unfortunately there are some people who use it as a tool to gain information about a persons life for other purposes. I promise now that it won't be another year before I have some good thoughts and news to share. So if you are able to read this, you are someone who I feel is special to me.
