Fun with Food Storage?

This past month I have been focusing on learning about the best way to get our food storage in place. It has been something that we have been told to do since I can even remember, and that is a long, long time.... but it is just so overwhelming when you think about it. Then the ensign last month talked about and our ward taught us some more about it, even our stake had a big preparedness fair. It seems like this must be really important for us to figure out how to do this. Autism/Vaccine controversy continues...

I read this article today on The Huffington Post website by Jim Carrey: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jim-carrey/the-judgement-on-vaccines_b_189777.html it is a must read for everyone. I just don't understand how people who don't really know what it is like to see the effects of autism on children and their families can be so willing to accept the facts that the drug companies and political allies of them want the public to believe and be so critical of those who have first hand knowledge of dealing with autism. Why is it so hard to get the studies done to get the scientific evidence that so many seem to think is necessary to help our children? I think it is ironic how the ones who have the most hateful views on this topic obviously doesn't have any autism in their families. If only they could try to live a day in the life of the family that does have to deal with autism, maybe they would think twice about their attitude on this, it isn't like autistic families don't believe in protecting their children from the horrible diseases that the vaccines prevent, but can't they be protected from another condition that is so life altering also? We just need to find out how to make them all better!!!!!

Information overload!!!

Brianna and I have been reading all that we can on Autism and have been learning so much--but there is an enormous amount of things that we need to know, every child with Autism is very different but all with similarities. Brianna was about to crash and burn mentally today and we talked about the fact that she is reading 5 different books all at the same time and also researching the internet. WOW, that is overload...... so she is going to pull it back a little and read only one book at a time. We need to focus on first helping the kids feel better physically so we are going to start with fixing their diet. This is a big task all by itself. Tyla is already eating on the Gluten Free/Casin Free diet and doing much better. Jack will be another issue since he won't touch most things that he is offered to eat. He has literally only about 5 things he will actually eat. All of which is definitely not GFCF. So this will be interesting and if you are interested you can google Autism and the GFCF diet. We will have to report on the progress later.

Life is crazy

I haven't posted anything for a long time because life is so crazy that everytime I try to take time out to do stuff on the computer more life comes at me. Right after christmas Cassie had her new baby (who is now almost 3 months old!!) and we have also discovered that Jack also has Autism (Tyla was diagnosed several months earlier). We (Brianna & Matt mostly) have been busy learning about autism and getting treatments and therapy and also taking care of a preemie baby. I do what I can to help Brianna, she has a very hard life now. She has Tyla most days and dealing with 2 Autistic children and a newborn is not very easy. We are very hopeful for the kids, they are responding amazingly to the therapy. Tyla is 4 years old and spoke very little at the begining of this school year and now she repeats (or tries to) everything she hears, it is like she is making up for lost time. Jack turned 2 in January and he made no attempts to verbalize anything and now after 1 month of therapy he is now starting to communicate with us and he is learning how to play and interact with people. We hope that they continue progressing at such a remarkable pace.
